Reading Overlaps Without Forcing a Triangle
A clinic exercise that separates genuine triangles from sideways corrections that only look nested.
Overlapping price swings invite the triangle label. Clinics treat that impulse as a hazard. A genuine contracting triangle has rules for each leg; a sideways correction can overlap without satisfying them.
The evening intensive starts with three printed overlaps. Participants must propose a triangle and an alternative combination without erasing either. Only after both drafts exist do we test thrust expectations and invalidation. Many “triangles” dissolve into double zigzags once the connecting X-wave is drawn honestly.
Keep a separate margin note for “overlap observed” versus “triangle confirmed.” The first is a description; the second is a claim. Copper markup on our sheets always distinguishes the two so the next session open does not inherit an unearned structure.
